Illustration Friday — “tree”
(watercolor, gouache and ink on bristol; finished size 11″ x 17″)

It seems like I have been doing a lot of drawin’ and paintin’ lately, but not enough postin’!  Here’s a sample illustration that I put together for the nice folks at Vanita Books, and it matches this week’s IF theme — what a bonus!

Raccoon Reading
(watercolor, ink on colored paper)

This is an illustration of a cozy reading spot that I worked up from my sketchbook.  I chose a warm-colored background, and I used sepia/black ink washes to build up a dramatic lighting effect with just a couple of spot colors for accents.

Illustration Friday — “beginner”
(watercolor, gouache, and ink on bristol)

I originally had this idea for the “lesson” IF theme, but I did not have time to throw together a pic.  I think it works equally well for this week.

THWAPP!!
